Mort Zuckerman Speaks at the Big Apple Awards
The Big Apple Awards is an event put together by the International Special Events Society (ISES) to recognize outstanding achievements in the New York metro marketplace. This past Spring saw the 7th anual awards ceremony which included categories such as Best Photographic Image, Best “Green Initiative”, Best Non Profit Event and Best Corporate Event.
One notable speaker this year was Mort Zuckerman, owner of the New York Daily News, US News & World Report and the Atlantic Monthly and while these big business giants always have insightful things to say its always interesting to see their points of view on politics. When you’re in the spotlight everyone has something to say.
In relation to the Obama campaign Mr. Zuckerman repeated the quote, “hope is good for breakfast but not necessarily for supper.” I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what that means but it seems to be one of those sayings that will be interpreted differently by everyone. I am not a political follower by any means but I would say that as the presidential race closes in it’s time soon to start seeing some action. For everything Obama has said early in the campaign it won’t hold much weight if he can’t follow through. As with anything there comes a point where talk is just talk and action will seal the deal.
