Harassment 101 Available at Everest College

2 July 2008 496 views 4 CommentsTagged as:

If you enjoy being harrassed all day every day by complete strangers then Everest College is the place for you. Yesterday evening I filled out an online form to receive information about Everest College. The harrassment began promptly at 8:10am EST this morning when I woke up to my ringing phone. I rolled out of bed to look at the call display and saw a number I didn’t recognize 1-720-684-4077. Since I had no clue who that was I ignored it and went back to sleep. My phone starts to ring again 10 minutes later with the same number and I ignore it again and figure since I can’t enjoy my sleep I’ll go take a shower.

I spend about 30 minutes in the shower and when I come out and look at my phone… 5 more calls during the 30 minutes I was in the shower. Who the hell is this I keep asking myself and what the hell do they want with me at this time in the morning. I stroll over to my computer and pop 720-684-4077 into Google to see what I can find and oh! what a magical tool Google is. The only results I see are listings for websites such as 800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info, etc. Basically a bunch of sites set up to track unknown phone numbers where people like me who get harrassed can search for answers.

I start looking through the various reports on whocallsme.com and on that one site alone there were 20 complaints of people who were being harrassed. It is at this point that I realized the calls were coming from Everest College. A large portion of the people complaining had no clue who the caller was. It was likely that someone filled out an online form at Everest and made up a phone number which happened to belong to some poor soul but it was the repeated remarks of people stating they had just requested info from Everest before harrassment began. Who in their right mind would want to go to this school after a first impression like this?

who calls meI admit I was never interested in going to Everest to begin with and had only filled the form out as part of the requirements for another program I was applying for but now I was curious as to what they actually offered. More so I just couldn’t beleive they were actually a school? The further I read on I see that Everest College is all across North America and in Canada, it has taken over the CDI Colleges. Please see the CDI College website as well as this link.

So I’ve found the official websites for this joke of a school and my next step is to see what people think about it? Do they value the education learned from Everest? Successful job placement afterwards? Basically all the things you would expect out of a college such as teachers showing up to classes and so on. Just as I expected were nothing but complaints. I mean how good can a school be if they have to harrass potential students within minutes to hours of requesting information. What better way to guarantee no one joins. And for the unlucky ones who were not privy to this information before-hand I can only say sorry you got screwed.

So using the trusty Google search engine again I drop Everest College Scam into the box and here is a sample of what people had to say about Everest College / CDI College:

as a former cdi student. I would like to advise anyone thinking of going there to not even consider it. The training is poor and cheap. They are just in it to get your money and be gone.

another friend of mine was kicked out of there recently due to attendance reasons they claimed. this is after the teacher showed up 3 hours late and left students waiting. then the next teacher after was 50 minutes late. what a joke they are. they are unorganized, dont help their students with their outreach programs, not enough supplies for the students either.

I called CDI that day to inquire about my friends dismissal only to be hung up on by their staff. what they dont know is that i am a former cdi student that also went through the same BS. complete scam and poor quality ignorant staff stay away from the school.

Where do I sign up?

Bryman/Everest College…Worst experience, non certified instuctors, very expensive excuse for an education. Dirty campus, weeks with out teachers, no hospital sites…hospitals refusing to work with Bryman/Everest students.

Promise of a better life, making over $25.00 an hour, job placement assistance…All untrue…almost $30,000 in debt later, they are still making excuses.

In 1 year we had 8 different teachers, some were MA instructors, some not certified, our last teacher was talked to 2 times about sexual harassment complaints…nothing was done…another female student in my class and I wrote a letter about being touched in a sexual manor and propositioned for sex, the Program Chair and the Director of Education did NOTHING about it…not even a phone call.

Tom Vacar KTVU Channel 2 did a report recently…the school denies any wrong doing, but demands that they not air the story…

Wait… not convinced yet? After reading this post here which is an apparent CDI/Everest Student defending his honor. CDI/Everest being trashed on the forums for overspending on their TV advertisements and just plain sucking.

People always think they know… when you assume you usually make an ass of yourself.. Perfect example: YES the people in the Everest college commercials are real students!!! How do I know?? Because I am one of those people. And I know a few of the others… People need to stop being so negative! If you don’t like the commercial then change the damn channel… I meet people on a daily basis that tell me how my commercials inspired them to make a change for the better… If your not one of those people then sit back and hope it can help someone else… Plus if your seeing the commercials that much something is wrong!!! What kind of life do you have??? They only come on during the day from about 8am to 6pm… So what’s going on with your life.. Why do you have so much time on your hands? How come your not at work or school and if you work at night then your ass should be sleep… Maybe you need to listen to the students who got off their butts and made a life for themselves and get you one!! Then the commercials won’t bother you so much cause you won’t have time to watch TV all day!! GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!!!

There was a very amusing answer to the above post… a one liner if you may, “Apparently they don’t teach you the difference between your and you’re at Everest College.

Do yourself and others a favour and stay the hell away from Everest College. If you have received an education from them and a job because of it then congratulations to you as you may be one of the very few.

Don’t go to Everest university on line formally FMU.
The financial Aid Dept. is a ship wreck. ihave been fighting for
my loan since April 2008. It is now July 10,2008. Lies, Lies, Lies.
I am so sick of all of them except John Greenbaugh, that I could puke.
He is a student advisor that has let me know that the weak link inthis school is just the department I from whom I have just written.
Yes Ilike the online education.I am in the Masters in Criminology
program. I have a 3.5 GPA. if I knew then what I know now I would have
choen adifferent school. All I have to say is, Don’t go there!!!!

Lisa,

I understand your issue. It is a problem with institutions like Everest. I think it is important to conduct a lot of research before choosing any school or degree program. One of the major things to consider is the accreditation of the school. The cost of a college education is certainly high.
By most standards, however, it will cost more not to earn a degree than it costs to go to school.
The important thing to remember is to consider that a degree should be able to give you the opportunity to realize the beginning of whatever your dream or goal is.
I wish you the best of luck.
Feel free to emial me anytime.

Hey Lisa.. sorry to hear about your experience with Everest. Just out of curiosity which city did the campus you went to reside in? Ive found reports similar to this from cities all across north america so it doesn’t appear to be isolated to one school. seems the entire company is just horrible all around.

Im still receiving phone calls and emails from them about joining their school. this is worse than creditors and im not even a student there nor have I applied to be one!

Do not even give Everest University (formally FMU) any time of your day! They are a scam from the gitgo. I learned the hard way and I didn’t think of the things that should have been done before hand. I was dropped out after 2 years, never had phone calls returned, got the run around with their horrible phone system, had the worst councilor who ignored me.I never was told really why they dropped me out except the GPA thing which was BS.I was lied to over and over again and treated like crap after they got my money. The school exhausted my financial aid, told me I had to pay money out of my pocket of 1500.00,and now they are threating to sue me for another 1700.00 for classes that they pulled me from for not having a 3.0 GPA (it was 2.8) and took out 30,000 dollars in 16 different loans making my monthly payments to pay back this loan almost 900 bucks a month. I enrolled in to Community College here in Orlando to ward off the payments for the loans. Not a single credit our of 40 would transfer. So I became a freshman again with nothing to show for but 30k in debt and collection notices and treats to sue me.
This school who ever the heck they are now are nothing but a waste of time. I have contacted the BBB in which FMU pretty much only had on file what they did and not records really of me calling them or anything I tried to do.They sent me this stupid paper saying that some of the classes were transferable and that it was my fault for not taking the right classes. I have contacted the Department of Education, the government, Florida senators, the lawyers of this so called lawsuit that is going on and have gotten nothing in return. I am in the process of email again the Dept of Ed, Samuel Furgeson who’s email is :Susan.Hood@fldoe.org.
These people can sue me for all I care and I will not go down without a fight!
