Wordpress Plugin Installer for Crying Out Loud!

21 June 2008 47 views One Comment

Is it that hard? I’m not a programmer or anything but I’d imagine that replicating the Component/Module installer from Joomla shouldn’t be that hard, where instead of having to unpack the zip files locally and uploading the files through FTP you can just upload the zip file itself through the backend and have it unpacked automatically.

I’m sick and tired of having to load up filezilla to upload every plugin I have to install. I’ve searched everywhere for one and can’t find it. If anyone knows where I can get one please please please let me know.

Update on my hunt to find a plugin installer. Aimlessly surfing I came across makeuseof

I admit I may not have looked hard enough. Been working on this new site layout for days and today alone I’ve been at it for almost 8 hours straight so I needed a break…. and BINGO while not looking for it I find it.

Grab a copy of Plugin Center and your Wordpress days just became a million times easier. This plugin will add a section to your dashboard that lists any plugins that currently have updates available and from there you can instantly upgrade with a single click.

Plugin Central

This cool plugin also allows you to install brand new plugins right from your dashboard without having to use an FTP client. Just enter the URL to the .zip file and it will grab the file, install and activate it
