Damien Echols

Time is running out for Damien Echols. He has been sitting on death row for over 13 years for crimes he did not commit. After a two year wait, the DNA results are finally being completed and according to Dennis Riordan, Echols’ attornery, the results are significant. Neither side will disclose any information on the results yet but supporters of Damien. Jason and Jessie believe the DNA results will result in a new trial. source

This testing does not guarantee a new trial for any of the defendants.

“Once the testing is done then arguments’ will be made by the defense council and we’ll make our decision once we see what the results are,” said prosecuter Davis. Davis said he does not expect there to be a “smoking gun” come from the retesting of the evidence. He said that the real work will be in the arguments.

Jason Baldwin Update:

On Friday, January 19, the ADC removed Jason Baldwin and other inmates from Tucker and transferred them to Varner Unit as part of a sweeping investigation of staff abuses. Baldwin has not been charged with a violation, is not on punitive status or lost his 1C classification, the highest that can be attained by an inmate with a capital sentence.

When sending Jason mail or books, please note his new mailing address:
P.O. Box 600

Jason was to be married at Tucker on January 24 and the wedding will be now rescheduled at Varner. Please check wm3.org regularly for the most up-to-date information.
